Evaluation in adding Tetracycline in Autogenous and Mixed Bone Grafts for Sinus Augmentation

A study was performed to see if the addition of tetracycline to the sinus graft lessens the signs of infection and if it interferes with the prognosis of implants placed in the surrounding areas. Thirty-nine sinus lifts were completed with autogenous or mixed bone grafts in the control group and in the test group, thirty-nine had the sinus lift with the addition of tetracycline. After 9 months of healing 100 implants were placed. The results showed that in both groups there was significant depletion to both abscess and purulence in post follow up. 20.51% in the control group and 2.56% in the test group. The final results indicated adding tetracycline to sinus lifts can improve the outcome of surgery. IJOMI 2006
